Spirit Rock Reservation & Painting

BES - First day of school Spirit rock

The purpose of the Spirit Rock is to promote school spirit and kindness at Bascomb Elementary. Families and staff are able to "rent the rock" to recognize a student's birthday, show school spirit, thank or recognize a teacher or staff member, mark congratulatory events, etc. It is a great way to spread positive messages and increase excitement in our community! All of the funds raised through the Spirit Rock will be used for things that benefit our students and school.

  • This reservation is for the Sprit Rock to the right of the parking lot.

  • Reservations must be made by a parent or teacher on behalf of a student or student group (Calls cannot be made to the front office for reservation).

  • Reservations are on a first come, first served basis so make your reservations now! (No reminders are sent)

  • Reserving the Spirit Rock is $20. All payments and reservations are non-refundable for any reason (including weather). If there is wet weather, the rock can be towel dried and the paint will adhere even in the rain or snow. You can also set up a pop-up tent over the rock if you are painting in the rain.

  • Only one person per day may reserve the Spirit Rock. On your reserved date, you will have access to the rock from 4:00 pm the day BEFORE until 4:00 pm on the day of your reservation

    • [Example] If your reserved date is September 15th, you will have access to the rock from 4:00 pm on September 14th until 4:00 pm on September 15th.

  • Paint and painting supplies are not provided by the school or PTA. You are able to use any painting medium you wish (spray paint, brushes etc.)

  • The area around the Spirit Rock must be left clean and paint-free. ONLY the Rock may be painted. DO NOT paint the grass or any other material surrounding the Rock. Please use a plastic tarp or other covering to protect the mulch surrounding the rock.

  • There are a number of artists that you can hire independently to paint the rock for you, and they do an amazing job!  Below are a few that have done great works of art for our families in the past:

  • All rules as outlined in the CCSD Code of Student Conduct MUST be obeyed. No exceptions. (No bullying, profanity, obscenity, or derogatory language.)

By processing payment you agree to the rules to rent the rock: The individual or group will be held financially responsible for cleaning and/or repair costs associated with violation of this policy. Be sure to remove all paint materials and litter from the site and be sure the paint is disposed of properly.
